Some Floaters Insights and Comments

Cynthia:
"As I step into the floatation tank for my first float, I find myself a bit anxious and unsure, but as I lay back in the warm silky water, the dark silent environment overtakes me. I can't help but let go, and the more I let go, the more I feel like I'm peacefully drifting in space. My sense of having a physical body evaporates as I merge with the surrounding water. I'm amazed at the sound of breath flowing in and out of my body. I start to become very relaxed and all my previous apprehensions melt away. I watch my mind meander through a myriad of thoughts as if I'm watching from some other place outside myself. I become aware that I'm thinking, and I return to the sound of my breath, and again, I fall into feeling so relaxed. 1 start to dream, yet I'm fully awake. I feel tingling sensations and a wave of euphoria surges through me. A passing thought about how much time has passed, but then it doesn't seem to matter. "It's as if I am suspended somewhere between the earth and the moon in outer space. Floating, free of light, sound, and touch, I am now able to tune into a profound relaxation that produces positive physical and mental effects. I experience a sense of profound inner peace and quiet. Sometimes, I just float away, and other times, if I move around like a playful otter enjoying the silky weightless feeling or total freedom. Even more significantly, this deep relaxation lingers long after the float is over."

Gregory:
"It’s a very quieting experience. I notice aspects of my body that I am not ordinarily aware of, areas that hold stresses and tension. As I become relaxed and let go, these muscles begin to release and an inner calm is felt as the physical sensation and emotional sensations flow throughout my body. Today, I felt waves of old fear rise up, ebb and flow out of my body into the surrounding water. This release allows me to flow deeper and deeper into my inner self. It is a profoundly spiritual experience. Even when I feel fear, I know I am in control and can end the experience at any time by just sitting up or opening the door. Since I have that sense of control, I am able to manage the rate that I let go on all levels, and that gives me a feeling of serenity, security, and peace."

Richard
"I experienced my first float in 1981 and loved the total relaxation it provided. I admit the first time I had an out of body experience, I was shocked, but I soon got over that and enjoyed all the places my mind created for me to explore. Now, I also use the tank for physical relaxation. I work long hours at the computer and my shoulders and neck get very tense and tight. After an hour in the tank, I feel all of the day’s stress and tension melt away, and my body growing longer as the muscles and gravity release their grip on my body."
